Copying used by middle aged poliadicts to the risk of relapse

Abstract

The relapses in addicted patients and poliadictos, problem that occupied this study, are in increase. This reveals the existence of deficiencies in the rehabilitatory treatment, and for that reason, a previous diagnosis of risk situations and there confrontation is required, singular for each patient object of study of this investigation. The main objective was to identify individual risk situations that can lead to relapse and the copying used before the same, by the patients subjects of investigation. The used Methodology was the qualitative one, through a multiple cases study. The clinical method was employed, and the techniques applied were interviews, observation, documents analysis and diagnostic techniques of the cognitive-behavioral therapy. The main results threw that the most identified risk situations resulted to be, the social pressure (constant invitations from friends to consume alcohol) and the interpersonal conflicts (family, dysfunctions). The confrontation style was the one centered in the emotion, as copying strategy, the search of social support (Groups of mutual help, Alcoholics Anonymous AA).
