Chinese Identities in Buenos Aires: Taiwanese, Continental Chinese and “Argentinean-Chinese”

On this paper we will cover the fluently and diverse identities of Chinese migrants and their descendants in Buenos Aires, particularly attending migrants that came from Taiwan and the People’s Republic of China between the late sixties and nowadays. Therefore, we will examine migratory flows and their interaction spaces, taking into account socio-economic, associative and cultural factors, and also the relations between migrants and local people and also the transnational networks between them and their motherlands. In this context, we will consider the Chinese neighborhoods as intercultural spaces where diverse identities are reflected, such as their conflicts and interaction patrons.
