Race and Raciality: colors and aproaches that qualify a reality

Abstract

Identity constructions such as gender, race or sexuality are usually seen under the prism of the absence of the other. If it is about raciality for Cuba, this problem always begins for historical, economic and socio-cultural reasons towards the black; The included target is generally considered even if it is only seen as its opposite. The analysis of raciality from its relationships, implies the presence of processes and phenomena that exist to contrary budgets in the very nature of their being, giving life to a dynamic in which one contradiction is cause and effect, at the same time, in another framework of contextual relationship. In this sense, the present work is aimed at determining the main contradictions emerging in the process of construction of racial identity in Cuba.
