Abstract

Major General Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz is one of the most brilliant military commanders of Cuba's war of independence, started on October 10, 1868. El Mayor, as he is known by Cubans, self-taught to apply in their combative actions principles of combat that favored his success in his military campaigns. Principles such as concentration, deconcentration, the timely use of the land and the weather factor, the surprise and the timely use of political moral and disciplinary factor marked forever his political-military life. In the present work we make a reflection on his qualities and the recognition that important contemporary military leaders make to him.
