Female participation in the Wars of Independence: a historiographic view from the contemporary

Abstract

The main historiographic balances related to the Ten Years' War, usually treat women's activity in a tangential way, which is why it is necessary to analyze with a perspective from a gender perspective that makes it perceptible, what has been hidden behind a vision androcentric that provides the necessary tools to discover certain forgotten areas. The present work proposes to make a balance about the treatment offered in the last sixty years, about the participation of women in the Wars of Independence during the XIX century, through a proposal of periodization sustained in three fundamental stages, namely: 1959-1967, 1968-1994 and 1995-2018.
