In memory of Dr. Enrique Marañón Reyes (1940–2026), Rector of Rectors of the University of Oriente. This issue of the journal Santiago is dedicated as a tribute to a man who devoted more than half a century to teaching, research, and university administration. His leadership shaped generations of students and professors, and his vision solidified the University of Oriente as a national and international benchmark. In these pages, the academic community of Santiago de Cuba honors his example of scientific rigor, humanist vocation, and commitment to higher education.
