Abstract

The circular economy has been established as a strategic model that promotes more sustainable production and management models in different economic sectors, including tourism. In this sense, the purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between circular economy and business competitiveness in tourism management projects. The research was conducted under a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental design of descriptive and correlational scope. For data collection, a structured survey with a five-level Likert scale was applied, consisting of a total of ten items, administered to a sample of 45 individuals associated with the tourism sector. The reliability of the instrument was evaluated using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, obtaining a value of 0.73, which is acceptable for social-type research. For data analysis, descriptive statistics and non-parametric correlation techniques were used, specifically Spearman’s and Kendall’s coefficients. The results show a medium level of implementation of circular economy practices in each of the tourism management projects analyzed. A moderate positive correlation was established between circular economy strategies and business competitiveness. In this sense, it is concluded that the integration of some sustainable practices can help improve organizational efficiency, competitiveness, and the sustainability of tourism companies.
