Centennial relics of Cuban cultural heritage: Steam locomotives and their protection

Abstract

The work addresses the historical evolution of the productions that contributed to the formation of industrial heritage in Cuba. The state of conservation of these goods, especially steam locomotives. It begins with a retrospective study of the work done for the conservation of industrial heritage by the responsible institutions. The document analyzes the situation of steam locomotives and the actions that are developed for their rescue and conservation, taking into account the potential for insertion in the current development scenarios of the country's economy. It carries out a study of the existing locomotives and shows a catalog of the most significant specimens and their recovery, distinguishing between those that retain their original function and those that have been destined for a new use; as well as its forms of exhibition at present.
