Abstract

The main goal of this investigation is to offer a synthesis of the status of the knowledge about the pictorial tradition of the mural painting in Cuba from its beginnings even the two first later decades to the triumph of the Revolution. From the use of theoretic fact-finding methods like the historic logician, analysis and criticism of sources and of empiric methods like the scientific observation, interviews and experts' opinion, they examined the cases of Havana and Trinity as main exponents in the colonial epoch principally. Also the experience of the Free Study for Artistic Painters and Sculptors is boarded, the works in the Normal School of Santa Clara, in the private corporations in Cuba in the fifties and some of the most relevant works that next were succeeded.
