Abstract

In the research presented it is to analyze some of the transformations in the jurisdiction of Cuba from 1798 to 1812, and were closely related to plantacionista take off and population growth experienced in the early nineteenth century. All this brought slavery to a strengthening of the policy applied to free captives and color. The methodology is based on quantitative and qualitative approach, based on the following methods: Dialectical-Materialist Analysis-Synthesis Historical and logical deductive and inductive. It is our intention to contribute new elements for understanding the history of the present province of Santiago de Cuba, because as one of the studies of local history, can get into the specifics of slavery in that territory, which we are confident will contribute to enrich from the perspective of micro-history, the analysis of national history has been made.
