Abstract

The historical relationships between Puerto Rico and Cuba during the different periods that crossed both islands in their  historical development creased when joining their efforts in the fight against the Spanish colonialism. With the North American intervention of 1898 the approach was superior when taking
place the Puerto Rican emigration to the Caribbean, also touching the Cuban land in the first years of domain neocolonial. The paper is aimed to show the first stay of Pablo of the Torriente Brau in Santiago of Cuba. The study is based fundamentally on the methods of the deductive historicallogical, inductive analysis and of the analysis-synthesis implemented in the bibliographical revision, the work done with the written press and Pablos´s personal documents that allowed to build the history of the Martyr, his childhood, adolescence and youth in Santiago, not written until then in the Cuba historiography.
