Abstract

The Spencer Public School No.3 in Santiago de Cuba played a fundamental role in the dissemination and preservation of Martí's ideology during the Bourgeois Republic. But it will be the fervent efforts of the teachers of this school for a dignified tomb for the Apostle and the founding of the Pro Martí Commission that will catapult them to the most glorious pages of the local history of Santiago. Hence, the objective of this article is to: Explain the involvement of the teachers and students of the Spencer School and their commission in activities linked to the preservation of Martí's ideology and the worthy tribute to it. For a correct study of the process, it is necessary to use methods such as historical-logical methods that allow us to glimpse the historical course of said institution in carrying out activities that aim to preserve Martí's ideas. Which made it possible to define the work of the school and its commission in three fundamental stages, from its foundation in 1905 to 1959, the year that marks the end of the educational work of the school. Highlighting the leading role of the school and its commission in the preservation of Martí's ideology in Santiago de Cuba.
