Postgraduate Training for Addressing Environmental Vulnerability from Municipal University Centers

In this work, the insufficiencies in the postgraduate training of Biology teachers that limit their educational work to address environmental vulnerability in communities from the Municipal University Centers (CUM) in Cuba are analyzed. The lack of specific training, contextualized approach and effective link with local actors is identified as a problem, which hinders the role of the university in building community resilience. Considering the climate urgency, the 2030 Agenda and the Cuban model of universalization, the objective was to develop a contextualized postgraduate improvement strategy. The essential contribution is a methodological proposal structured in three stages: socialization, characterization and application, supported by critical pedagogy and the socioecological approach, to develop teaching skills that link biological content with local environmental problems through workshops, excursions and community projects. The pilot application in the CUM of the Mella municipality showed promising results in the transformation of teaching practice and the link with the community, evidencing changes in 100% of the teachers observed.
