Ecojustice and communication: a systematic review of scientific production in Scielo and Scopus (2015-2025)

Eco-justice, understood as an ecocentric paradigm articulating social, environmental, and epistemic justice, constitutes a growing field of interest for communication research. This article presents a systematic literature review following the PRISMA-2020 protocol, analyzing 135 original documents indexed in two databases (SciELO and Scopus) between 2015 and 2025, with a specific focus on the communicational dimensions of environmental justice. Building on the conceptual foundations of eco-justice, environmental racism ecofeminist economies, Sumak Kawsay, and Ubuntu the results are organized into four thematic axes: (1) media narratives and framing of environmental conflicts; (2) social movements and counter-hegemonic communication strategies; (3) disputes over recognition and epistemic justice in the public sphere; and (4) the Escazú Agreement as a communicational milestone. The review identifies a constitutive tension between technocratic optimism and moral imperative frameworks, as well as an overrepresentation of studies from the Global North. It is concluded that communication is not accessory to eco-justice but its constitutive and strategic dimension.
