Perception social of risk to the danger of coastal flooding by penetrations of the sea in the municipality of Santiago de Cuba

Abstract

This research addressed the perception of the risk of coastal flooding due to sea penetrations as one of the dangers that affect the coastal area of the Santiago de Cuba municipality, with the objective of assessing social perception, to improve prevention and response actions. The methods at the empirical and mathematical level were used, the first through surveys applied to the inhabitants of the territory to know their perception of risk and the second through a percentage analysis that allowed quantitative and qualitative accounting and interpretation of the results obtained. So, it can be noted that the municipality has high levels of perception, highlighting the popular councils of Siboney and Ciudamar. Despite this level, it is concluded that not all popular councils behaved in the same way, so work on it must continue.
