Abstract

Limiting emissions of atmospheric pollutants is an indicator of environmental management for companies, because of their production processes. Sulphur dioxide is irritating, toxic and an intermediary in the production of acid rain. Benzene is a known human carcinogen. The work evaluates the determination of its concentrations in the combustion gases from specific sources and compares them with current regulations. To determine the risks to workers' health, the conditional test CTM 034 (EPA) was used, obtaining average SO2 concentration values (mg/Nm3) of 9615.94, 8456.10 and 8587.67 in units 4, 5 and 6 respectively; and for C6H6 (mg/Nm3) of 924.57 in the morning and 835.3 in the afternoon; allowing the identification of sites and improvement conditions to optimize the working, environmental and life conditions of exposed workers.
