Spanish writers in the Cuban literary and dramatic evolution of the 19th century

Abstract

On the development of Cuban literature and theater in the 19th century not everything is finished. Emigration, the coming and going of foreign writers, mainly Spanish, brought with it a valuable contribution to the cultural heritage in formation. On this basis, they left their mark on Cuba, not only from a demographic point of view, but also from a cultural point of view. Coming from different parts of the Iberian Peninsula, they settled in different regions of this island, mainly, Havana. His work included, in addition to professions or trades, the task of dedicating himself to the cultivation of letters and the arts. In this direction, they founded and collaborated in newspapers, devoted themselves to theater, poetry, and narrative. Deepening these texts would expand the heritage and cultural knowledge of Cuba and Spain in the 19th century.
