Abstract

The inventory routing problem is an important issue within logistics and supply chain management, and as such has been addressed by the scientific literature. Likewise, decision support systems have received much attention from academic researchers due to their usefulness in numerous disciplines. This paper proposes a review of the academic literature on vehicle routing with inventory and decision support systems. For this, bibliometric analysis is used in publications on these two topics from the Sciencedirect and Scielo databases, between the years 1997 and 2020. The temporal trends, different classifications, authors and most relevant related topics and the link between these topics are analyzed. The main findings are the growing trend in the study of both topics, the absence of authors and central themes linked to them, as well as the scarce interrelation in their study.
