Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the relationship between ESE and the performance of students in four educational units of district 13D07 Chone-Flavio Alfaro. A semi-structured survey was applied to 120 students, 120 mothers and 80 fathers in the third year of high school. Techniques: K-means, cluster analysis, discriminant analysis and non-parametric comparisons were used. Students with high ESE showed that, in Chonenses families in the selected educational units, maternal occupation had more positive effect on youth achievement than other measures of ESE. With low ESE: the lower the father’s occupation, the less help with educational tasks. The relationship between academic achievement and students’ ESE, being a point in discussions about improving the quality of education. The results demonstrate the importance of assessing multiple components of ESE in future research.
