The Dominican thought. His real and emancipatory dimension

Abstract

Although the Caribbean region has contrasts in their identity and qualitative diversity , the Caribbean faces problems and edges that make up the region , expressing a trend towards democratization , however there are challenges ahead . In response the Dominican intelligentsia as a carrier of political , philosophical and cultural partner of his country, thought shown to offer solutions and alternatives to these problems and the formation of new values. This work is part of studies of Caribbean thought and particularly the Dominican. Based on analysis of content and hermeneutical method, the goal is aimed at characterizing the Dominican political and socio-cultural thinking through the evolution of its intelligentsia. From the analysis of the thought of some personalities as well as their social participation and the main problems they have committed their performance the essential features thereof are determined.
