In the Dictionary of Cuban Literature a lot of newspapers that circulated mainly in Havana, during the colonial period is recorded; and very few other places in the country. However, it is important to mention that not only the capital had journalistic activity; also in provinces significant issues were printed. In this essay, a relationship and valuation of newspapers that existed in Santiago de Cuba in the nineteenth century, and its heritage is important; on the basis of the review of the Chronicles of Santiago de Cuba Emilio Bacardí, and the publications listed in the archives and libraries of the city. Unfortunately, most of these have disappeared or are in danger of extinction. Drastic measures are urgently needed; since, on the one hand, they are lost as equity itself; and secondly, they would cease to be sources of immediate and future research.Downloads
