Self-care in hypertense patients at risk of chronic kidney disease. November 30 Health área, Santiago de Cuba

The current research was carried out at the "30 de Noviembre" Teaching Polyclinic of the Santiago de Cuba municipality, in the period from January to December 2024. The qualitative methodology was used and within it, the hermeneutic method. The content analysis was facilitated by the multiple case study, which favors community work and the active participation of the investigated subjects; with a sample of 3 hypertensive subjects aged between 50 - 60 years, of both sexes. The objective was: to describe the behavior of self-care indicators in hypertensive subjects to avoid progression to Chronic Kidney Disease. The indicators to be evaluated were: level of knowledge of Chronic Kidney Disease, therapeutic adherence, lifestyle and the most frequent emotional alterations, through techniques such as: in-depth interview, observation, the State-Trait Depression Inventory and the interview with the medical personnel who care for them. There was a predominance of half level of knowledge of Chronic Kidney Disease, as well as the presence of mostly unhealthy lifestyles, inadequate adherence to treatment and depression as the most significant emotional alteration. Knowing the behavior of these indicators, this research enables the assertive action of health professionals by promoting healthy behaviors and habits, favoring the creation of new strategies and the improvement of existing ones, to improve the state of health in subjects who present High Blood Pressure at risk of suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease.
