Abstract

Between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries there was a constant and predominant flow of spanish southern speech to Cuba, which were nuanced by the language “aruaca” and sub-saharan. These aspects serve as the basis to achieve the objective proposed with this work: to demonstrate the existence of a linguistic independence in Cuba since the beginning of the 19th century, even though in this period the Island had not achieved its independence in relation to the Metropolis, as other continental Latin American countries had achieved it. This can be seen both in the form of expression of the speakers, and in the linguistic awareness of their most illustrious men, among them religious and pedagogues; as well as in other aspects of social life such as: cultural
magazines, local works for teaching, attention to the language by literary critics and the manifestation of literature from its representative
