Rural education in the Andes: an analysis of students' professional aspirations
Keywords:
Primary education, rural education, professional aspirations, students in the AndesAbstract
The objective of this study is to analyze the diversity of professional aspirations among primary education students in an Andean educational institution located in Ayacucho, Peru. The study adopted a qualitative approach and used interview techniques to collect data. The findings revealed a notable diversity in students' career aspirations, with careers such as civil engineering, medicine and policing among the most desired. A distinction in career aspirations was identified between female and male students. Women showed an inclination toward careers such as teaching and singing, while men aspired to be architects or civil engineers. The diversity in the professional aspirations of men compared to women is notable, with a broader range of professional interests. The medical and teaching professions seem to be of interest to all students, regardless of their other aspirations and gender.
