Film Studies in Cuba... Finally!... Finally? Speculations from 33 Ensayos sobre cine

The present text is revision article that reflects on the book 33 Ensayos sobre cine by Edgar Soberón with the objective of examine the current state of the film studies in Cuba. Likewise, it describes fundamental problematics stablished in various relevant volumes of this discipline on a global scale and it contrasts the experience of the island regarding international scène. Later, this study identifies the principal features that identifies film analysis in Cuba in relation to topics as, on one hand, realistic representation and, on the other hand, no-fiction. Finally, this research aspires to stimulate the debate on the epistemic lines guiding the thoughts about cinema in the Cuban context
