The reflection in the madrilean press of the hispanic-cuban-north american war
Keywords:
hispanic-cuban-north american war; madrilean press.Abstract
This article studies the tendencies presented in the madrilean press regarding the Cuban American North American conflict, and the predominance of a triumphalist vision in most of the press organs of the time, which conditioned the population of the capital of Spain an environment of ultranationalism that, finally, vanished before the evidence of the defeat of the Iberian hosts. The frustration that was generalized in the peninsula was reflected in the fall of the credibility of the newspapers, and even in the ruin of many of them due to the reduction of print runs.
