The promotional poster of the Caribbean Festival

Abstract

This article proposes an analysis of the promotional poster for the Caribbean Festival in Santiago de Cuba. Analyze the communicative and aesthetic values ​​that this advertising text possesses. The role played by its main cultists in the realization of this graphic proposal, conceived today as a heritage asset, is recognized. The analysis procedures were chosen as documentary exploration, bibliographic research, interviews with creators and the collection of existing iconographic material in the Casa del Caribe and in the Elvira Cape Provincial Library in Santiago de Cuba. Of these specimens 10 were selected. A formal and conceptual examination of them revealed the characteristic features of their design. It was finally possible to verify that in the posters made to promote the Caribbean Festival, the unavoidable presence of the soul of the Caribbean region emerges, therefore they are images where an accentuated identity value becomes evident.
