Improvement of university medical education in Cuba: a significant bastion for future generations

Abstract

The university, has been linked since its beginning to the historical, social, political, economic and cultural development of nations, so its relationship with the society in which we live is one of close reciprocity and indissoluble. The triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959, would be a promoter of academic and social achievements in Higher Education, it would initiate a process of continuous transformations, aimed at expanding the possibilities and opportunities of access to the university to all those people with possibilities and wishes to do it. Cuba has been nourished by each of the world events on medical education, so that the new innovations in university education be changes in the existing paradigm. Our universities need to train professionals who defend their reality, who are leading actors in the construction of the future. and that provide solutions to the needs of the historical moment in which we live.
