Standards for project management, an approach to impact planning

Projects are fundamental tools for introducing economic, social and environmental changes, hence the importance of ensuring good practices in their management. Sizing the magnitude of the effect that their results may have is a challenge that demands the projection of impacts during the planning stage. The objective of this article is to assess how these impacts are approached during this stage, based on project management standards updated between 2017 and 2021. The research techniques and methods used are: data collection through documentary review, analysis-synthesis, hypothetic-deductive and systemic-structural. This analysis showed that methodologically, there is a consensus of criteria regarding the project life cycle. However, they differ in terms of the approach to impact during the planning stage, with the multicriteria approach predominating. Some standards propose useful tools for impact projection such as the Responsibility Assignment Diagram.
