Epistemological perspective in the understanding of the philosophical thought of Medardo Vitier

Abstract

It is an essential task for the studies on philosophical thought in Cuba to reveal the
peculiarities of those thinkers who contributed in a significant way to extol the values of
national culture and identity. The present article is oriented to reveal the character and
the relation of the theoretical and contextual elements that favor the process of
epistemological construction of the philosophical thought of Medardo Vitier. The
relation between the ontological, the gnoseological and the axiological is identified as
the epistemological perspective on which the philosophical thought of the author is
based from a cultural determinism. The feasibility of the analysis is considered from the
use of an epistemological perspective that sustains the philosophical thought of
Medardo Vitier as an expression of the development of Cuban philosophical thought
mediated by the philosophy of culture relationship from the establishment of an
interpretive model of Cuban philosophical thought.
