Abstract

Typhoid fever is an infectious disease produced by the bacterium Salmonella typhi; it is more frequent in children, adolescents and young adults. Due to its high incidence in rural regions of Angola, we intend to describe the evolution of a case of typhoid fever in a schoolchild in the province of Bie. The bibliography related to the subject was consulted, where there were points of coincidence such as the time of evolution of the disease that in the majority come late to the health area; as for the most frequent signs and symptoms, the abdominal pain being the most reported. Regarding the number of intestinal perforations, it is highlighted that more than a single perforation prevails; the most used surgical technique is the primary suture with edge resection and the postoperative complication that presented itself due to infection of the surgical wound.
