The Chemistry Department of the University of Camagüey: a historical synthesis of its 50 years

Abstract

The objective of the research was to compile the historical data of the Department of Chemistry of the University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz. A longitudinal and retrospective descriptive study was carried out in the period between January 2019 and December 2022 at the Faculty of Applied Sciences. Theoretical methods such as the analytical-synthetic, the inductive-deductive and the historical and logical were used for the theoretical referents of the subject. From the empirical methods, documentary sources and eyewitness testimonies were used. It is concluded that it is evident that during these years’ teachers in the department in postgraduate training, research and the university extension have obtained important results in the training of professionals in the different careers in which the disciplines of Chemistry are taught, as well as meritorious achievements.
